About the Author

Wendolynn L. Allen

A four-year letter winner in Track & Field (Shot Put & Discus) at The University of Texas in Austin where she graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Wendolynn chose the field of fitness and nutrition to leave her mark on the world and acquired certification through two highly prestigious organizations. Achieving 1st Class Certification as a Personal Trainer via The National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT) and successfully completing the Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant program accredited through The American Council on Exercise (ACE), Wendolynn started GreatWorks Fitness. She later obtained her license as a Sports Nutritionist through the National Association of Sports Nutrition (NASN) and, more recently, has added certification as a USA Track & Field Coach (USATFA) to her repertoire of accreditations.

Since 1997, GreatWorks Fitness has provided quality Personal Training, Coaching, and Nutritional Consulting Services – Wendolynn’s gateway to dramatically influencing individuals of all ages as they seek to improve their standard of living and well being.

Her experience in working with youth is just as comprehensive as with adults. In the spring, Wendolynn is Head Coach for the Austin Waldorf School Track & Field Team (6th – 12th grade) and Volunteer Coach for The Huston-Tillotson University Track & Field Team. In the summer, Wendolynn instructs Strength & Conditioning Camps for middle school/high school students who desire to excel in their chosen athletic endeavor, potentially competing in collegiate sports and is Volunteer Coach for The Austin Striders Track & Field Club Team (ages 8 – 18).

Continuing to feed her competitive nature, Wendolynn has found success on the Bodybuilding stage, the Powerlifting platform, and the Olympic-style Weightlifting arena.

Other hobbies include writing and, in fact, Wendolynn is a four-time published poet and her first book (an inspirational teaching based on Christian principles) was published in September 2004.
